Every year we set renewed Vision statements for our Church. We also have a yearly theme for our Church. Continuing on from 2017, our theme for 2018 is also focused on the Equipping of the saints for ministry from Ephesians 4:11-16,
“And Christ gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Discipleship is important to us at Pakenham Christian Church. We desire for everyone who attends the Church to pursue a personal a FAITH based relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We now have five Life Groups that meet during the week at various times during the month. We desire to see a larger proportion of the Sunday congregation attending a Life Group during the week. Throughout 2018 Sunday sermons will cover the subjects of Nehemiah “Building up the local Church”, “Spiritual Gifts”, “Serving God.”
The accompanying Scriptures with this statement are from Numbers 13:30, ‘Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up and take possession of the land for we can certainly do it”‘ and Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”.
