Praise God, we have entered a season of growth and these are exciting days for us. Over the years God has formed and developed a fantastic team of key leaders and because our leadership has grown, releasing ministry, our Church has grown. We remember well that if we plant and water, we know that it’s God that brings the increase, 1 Corinthians 3:6 “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”
We are in the process of integrating new people into the life of the Church and are prayerfully examining as a leadership new opportunities for people to serve. Our services continue to be relevant, dynamic and Bible based, responding to the person, leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit. For any Church to effectively grow – unity is vital: 1 Corinthians 1:10 “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
The following statements describe Pakenham Christian Church:
We are a Pentecostal Church: (Ministry and Worship) We should be a Church where the gifts of the Spirit, spontaneous free worship, ministry of healing and deliverance are common – A Church where people are empowered to know Christ and make Him known. A Church that operates in the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit.
We are a Missions Church: (Society, home and abroad) We are strategically placed to have an impact both on the home and overseas missions front: Our Mission statement explains this:
Home Missions: We need people committed to the task of reaching the lost and everything that we do as leaders, ministries, teams, must have an evangelistic flavor to it. We encourage our people to be salt and light in the community. We encourage our ministries to be outward looking. We support a missionary couple who are devoted to outreach with Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley Region of W.A.
Overseas Missions: We support one missionary couple serving overseas in southern Japan, and encourage our congregation to be globally minded and if called to do so: to go on short term mission abroad. We have released two missionaries in December 2016 from our church to serve the Lord overseas: Di Wilson in Agape Home Thailand, and Rebekah Broughton in YWAM UK.
We are a serving Church: (Local Church and community) Underlying everything we do as a Church is our love for Jesus and one another and a desire to serve like Jesus did: Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many.” For as leaders we understand that we can only effectively lead to the degree that we are willing to serve. Servant hood sets the spirit of the Church and enable God’s people to achieve great things for God no matter how big or small. Our vision is to release as many people as possible into the role and work of servant hood, in and through the Church.
We are an equipping and releasing Church: (Spiritual development) Ephesians 4:11-16 makes it clear that the work of the ministry is “for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” Ephesians 4:12. Our vision is to encourage people to grow in God, to help them discover God’s plan for their lives and to release people into servant hood and ministry.
