Pastor Carl has been ministering in Pakenham Christian Church since January 2002. PCC was originally planted by Berwick Winepress AOG in 1992. Carl is married with three children. He originally comes from England, born in Nottingham, the home of “Robin Hood” and grew up in the quaint, picturesque village of Winchcombe in the Cotswold Hills in Gloucestershire. At the age of 12 he was baptized in an Evangelical Church in Winchcombe, now known as Cotswold Christian Centre.
“Accepting Jesus Christ as my personal LORD and Saviour is the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. Even though my parents were Christians, I wanted to know Jesus personally and know that He holds my future in His hands. As a teenager I was very concerned about what my future held for me and what I was to do with my life. Knowing Jesus Christ as my personal LORD and Saviour has not only given me eternal life, but my quality of life has changed for the better. Jesus has helped me deal with and overcome a lack of confidence, shyness, low self image and various fears. I give God all the glory because I know that even now God’s ‘Grace is sufficient…’ for me 2 Corinthians 12:9.
One of the verses from the Bible that has been great wisdom to me over the years has been God’s guidance from Proverbs 3:5-6 ‘Trust in the LORD with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.’
The times that I have been most fearful, God has reassured me many times from verses of the Bible like Psalm 46:1-2 ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear; even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.’
As a Pastor my desire has always been to serve God, to have a renewed passion for Jesus and a desire to be available to serve God. I am so thankful to all the Churches I have served in over 25 years who have given me opportunity to serve and have seen the call of God on my life.
I was privileged to study at I.B.I.O.L (International Bible Institute Of London) at Kensington Temple, London, studying a Double Diploma in Christian Studies and Ministry. Kensington Temple is an Elim Pentecostal Church, which will always be considered a special place for me where I encountered God in a big way.
I became a Minister in Training and Youth Pastor at Selly Oak Elim Church, Birmingham. My Senior Pastor and the congregation encouraged me and gave me the opportunity to preach for the very first time– I was so nervous the first time I preached! I remember it well!
After becoming an ordained Minister I went on to Pastor my own Church at Southey Green Elim Church Sheffield. I was involved in renovating the Church and manse; serving and working with a wonderful congregation, we saw the Church strengthen and grow to the glory of God. I got married during this time, and to this day my wife and I serve the LORD together to His glory.”
